Like all successful companies, Paperless Environments was born to address a business need. In 2001, Seth Dawson, CFO of a large, privately held construction company, was faced with a business challenge: his Accounts Payable and Payroll processors were drowning in paperwork. He realized he needed to automate these processes and make them as efficient as possible.
Dawson's first response was to look to one of the industry's leading providers of imaging and document workflow technology. However, after reviewing the demonstration of the software, Dawson determined that it only solved 70% of the problems he faced. A better solution was needed. Dawson then turned to his internal developer, Paul Rice, to come up with the solution. Together, Dawson and Rice set about the business of making their business more efficient, more automated, more electronic—in a word, paperless.
They fine-tuned and perfected their solutions to their business needs over the next four years until late in 2004, when they realized that their solutions not only met and exceeded their company's business workflow needs; their solutions could help companies in any industry. Hence, the birth of Paperless Environments.
